How lame am I that I have to rely on the hub's finished projects to keep my little bloggy afloat? But really, didn't his mantle turn out nice? The tile inlay by the actual fire-making unit is in and the whole thing has been varnished. I'm so pleased with how this turned out. We're thinking that maybe the brickwork behind the fireplace is a bit dated but that painting it the wallcolor would be too much. So our idea is to mix some of the wall color with water to make a light wash just to tone it down a tad. Thoughts?
And another of his many projects to reach fruition lately is the bathroom. It was nearly done when I blogged about it a year ago, but since then the vanity has been built, the granite top and sink/faucet installed and we just finally got the handles from our favorite hardware source and they are now installed.
I'm so thrilled with this bathroom now. Hit the above link to view it in all its former grossness, if you dare. F.Y.I., a good bounce flash doesn't do you much good if you're not willing to actually step into the area you're photographing, lest you be reflected in the mirror in all your pregnant glory. Or maybe I just don't know what I'm doing. Always a possibility.
And while my projects haven't been too bloggable, I HAVE been productive. I've been going through more stuff, making trips to Goodwill and listing items on Ebay in order to get the baby's area ready so the crib can be moved in.
And most importantly, I think I've chosen the fabric I'm going to use for the crib bedding. Have you seen Full Moon Forest by Moda designer Tula Pink?
I love this collection and it's going to work perfectly in the room which already is brown and pink. I wanted to bring in some brighter colors and I think the blue and aqua fit the bill perfectly. It's a bit fussier than I thought I would go this time, being in a much more minimalist frame of mind than I was previously. But I love the hidden owls and bunnies and I think used in moderation it will be great. I'm going to do a box pleated crib ruffle instead of gathered, so that will help keep a more tailored feel.
I can't believe I'll be 31 weeks tomorrow. It's crazy. I'm really feeling the pressure to get cracking, which is why I've been a bit scarce around here. If I don't get this room cleared out and ready, the poor girl will be sleeping in a drawer!

I kinda think you should paint the bricks white and leave the birch like it is, but that's just me. ^_^

I. Love. Moda. Whenever I go to the quilting store, Moda seems to call me every time. Lovely quality and just plain lovely fabrics!
I quite liked the look of your mantle the way it is. Why don't you leave it like that for a bit and, when you tire of it, go the next step?!

Aw, those projects are seriously fabulous. And that fabric? Must have.
Hope you are feeling well!

Yikes! That is the most gorgeous fabric ever chosen for a baby's room, evah! What a little rockin' style baby you will have.
